Fourth Grade trip to Williamsburg, VA

In March, the fourth grade went on a class trip to Williamsburg, VA. We've been studying Colonial Williamsburg all year. It was very fun! We went on charter buses and had to get on the bus at 5:00 am to start our trip. On the bus trip there we all put our blankets over the seats and made "Tent City" where we all played in the aisles and on the floor. We elected a President and various city officials. I was a police woman.

On our first day in Colonial Williamsburg we split into smaller groups. My group had all girls. It was a fun day exploring the town and trying different Colonial jobs.
This is my teacher, Mrs Sandy. She is so nice! We went to Jamestown while we were there.

We are getting ready to go on our "ghost walk" through Colonial Williamsburg. We went into homes and listened to ghost stories. Some of them were pretty spooky!

Speaking of scary, this is an example of dinner at the Governor's House! YUCK!

We got to play with hoops like the Colonial children did.

Of course, they can also be used for Hoopin'!

We got to pick a trade to study before we came to Williamsburg. I picked "wigmaker". This is a really fascinating trade. I am so glad we don't have to wear wigs now. They are itchy.

I tried out the stocks, good thing they don't have these anymore. They are uncomfortable!

Mom's turn!

I got a colonial dress and bonnet. A lot of girls wear these around Colonial Williamsburg.

The Fourth Grade class.

On the bus ride home, we only had five girls on the bus, plus the Moms and Mrs Sandy. A lot of kids and parents flew home. We had a great time on the bus! It was a fun trip!

What a great time! I went to Williamsburg with Grammy and Aunt Sarah at Christmas-time when I was in middle school, I think. It was lots and lots of fun. I remember going on that ghost walk -- it was super scary.
